Sterling - FCX Descent Device
Descent control device for use by Fireman in emergency evacuation situations from a burning building.
Working with Fire/Rescue professionals; Sterling began developing an improved concept based on their F4 device to ensure Fireman could more intuitively and safely escape from a burning building. Feature enhancements included: Elevated side rails to eliminate sill interference, automatic click to neutral capability, spring loaded handle that automatically stays out of the way and a cam that significantly improves modulation.
Role: Lead Industrial Designer responsible for improving aesthetics, ergonomics and ease of use.
